What chimney scaffolding is for
Chimney work is some of the most exposed work on a house. A chimney scaffold gives a boarded, guardrailed platform around the stack at roof level, so the work can be done properly and safely.
It is usually built from the ground up the side of the house, then taken up and around the stack. Where the stack sits in the middle of a terrace or away from the edge of the roof, the design changes, so we look at photos or visit before quoting.

What we provide
We build the scaffold to reach the stack with a full working platform, double guardrails and toe boards, and a loading point if bricks and mortar have to go up. Chimney scaffolds are often combined with roofing scaffolding if the roof is being worked on at the same time.

Work near a chimney is work at height on a roof, so edge protection and a stable platform are essential. We never load a roof or stack in a way that could damage it, and we tell you before work starts if we find anything unsafe.

Can a chimney scaffold be built on the roof?
In some cases a scaffold can be built up the front or rear and taken over the roof to the stack. It depends on the roof, the stack position and neighbouring properties. We will assess it from photos or a visit.
Do I need my neighbour's permission?
