What scaffold loading bays are for
A loading bay is a heavier duty section of scaffold with its own boarded platform and gate. It gives a safe place to land tiles, slates, bricks and plant, by hand, forklift or crane.
We built loading bays into the scaffold for our primary school full wrap, serving both the flat and pitched roofs, and a loading position on our full house wrap for a new roof.

What we provide
We position the bay where the lorry, forklift or crane can reach it, build it to take the loads you need, and fit a gate so the edge is only open while materials are being landed. We will ask what is going up, how much and how, so the bay is right for the job.
Safety and compliance
Loading bays carry far more weight than a normal working lift, so they must be built to a standard design such as TG20 where it applies, or to a specific design. The safe working load should be clearly marked, and bays must be inspected like the rest of the scaffold.

Can a crane land materials on the bay?
Yes, if the bay is designed for it and the lift is planned properly. The lifting plan is normally the responsibility of whoever is organising the crane.
Can a loading bay be added to an existing scaffold?
Often, yes. It is an adaptation, so we will price it and agree it with you first.
