A gantry lifts the scaffold over a pavement, road or entrance so the space underneath stays open. Public protection covers the other measures that keep passers by safe, such as fans, netting, brick guards, padding, lighting and signs.
On our Brighton seafront job, a gantry kept the side access road open while maintenance went on above. Our commercial painting scaffold in Brighton and Hove needed a pavement licence and public protection the whole time.

What we provide
We plan the gantry or walkway around what has to stay open underneath, then add the protection needed for the site: boarded decks, fans, debris netting, brick guards, padded standards, lighting and signage. We also handle the pavement licence where one is needed.
Safety and compliance
Gantries carry loads over people, so they must be designed properly and built to that design. Licence conditions from the council often set minimum clear widths and heights, lighting and signage. Every part is inspected along with the rest of the scaffold.
